When the owners of this home discovered dark spots on the interior walls of their home indicating mold, they knew they had to take action. Further testing revealed the problem to be pervasive and required the entire exterior—only 10 years old—to be redone. By changing window sizes and styles, the homeowners were able to achieve their dream of owning a shake-style home with a covered front entry. Talk about turning a negative into a positive.
For a growing family in need of more space, it was all or nothing, and their original house was completely demolished to make room for the new. The impressive end result is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom home with a cedar shake exterior.
The owners of this home weren't thrilled with the stucco exterior of their house and when they found that it disguised a mold problem they were even more eager to remodel. Cedar shakes proved far more pleasing. A front portico with natural stone steps was added to create a warm, more inviting look.
